 Tom Hom Civic Engagement Scholarship

The Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC) is proud to offer the Tom Hom Civic Engagement Scholarship named in honor of Tom Hom, the first Asian American elected to the San Diego City Council and later to the California State Assembly.

A local businessman, community leader and philanthropist, Tom Hom remains active at age 90, was named “Mr. San Diego” for 2014, and recently published his memoirs, “Rabbit on a Bumpy Road.”
The Tom Hom Civic Engagement Scholarship will be given to one student at SDSU and one student at UCSD of API (Asian or Pacific Islander) background who has demonstrated civic engagement. Please email completed application form to wesleyquach@apacsd.org. A letter of recommendation may also be included but not necessary. Deadline for completed applications is TBD and announced this fall.

Recipients will be recognized on Saturday, March 31st, 2018 at the Annual APAC Awards Gala. The current scholarship amount is $1,000 per individual.

Application for the 2018 Tom Hom Civic Engagement Scholarship will be available this fall.
